American Militia Leather Shako, Three Militia Cap Plates, Leather Belt, and Belt Plate, c. 1825-35, hat ht. 8, cap plates 4 1/4 x 3 1/2, 4 5/8 x 3 1/2, 4 1/2 x 3 1/4 in., respectively; belt plate 2 1/2 x 2 3/4 in. the black leather shako with bell crown, original mounts, including gold metallic chain cording and tassels, brass rosette cockade with brass star and eagle, a graduated scaled brass strap with starred button mounts at the base of the crown; three volunteer militia infantry die-struck copper cap plates: one with embossed silver-plated eagle and panoply below "star of stars," the second silver-plated featuring an eagle with a shield embossed "1776" under under sunrays, thirteen stars, cloud and the inscription "UNITY IS STRENGTH," the third copper with an eagle, shield, and panoply under13 stars and motto, all with plume sockets on the reverse; a die-struck silver on copper belt plate featuring an eagle, shield and panoply below 13 stars and motto. Condition: two plates lacking wire loops, hat lacking wool plume.
