Mahogany and Gilt-gesso Patent Timepiece or "Banjo" Clock, Massachusetts, early 19th century, the gilt rope-molded frames enclosing reverse-painted and gilt tablets flanked by brass sidearms, the throat tablet with eagle and shield, the lower tablet showing a naval battle, the painted zinc dial with Roman numerals marked "A. Willard/BOSTON," and brass eight-day time-only movement, iron pendulum rod, brass-faced pendulum bob, and cast iron weight, eagle-carved giltwood finial, all on a giltwood plinth with acorn drop, ht. 40 3/4 in. dial repainted and with spurious signature and losses; period finial broken at wing; replaced glasses with flaking, throat glass with cracks; plinth likely added.
