Extensive Handpainted Haviland Limoges Dinner and Fish Service, France, late 19th century, each with pale ivory banded border, including two compotes with fruit designs, ht. 4 1/2 in.; twelve plates with designs of ocean life, dia. 8 1/2 in.; an oval platter with fish design, lg. 23 5/8 in.; twelve plates with bird designs, dia. 9 1/2 in.; two bird decorated items, a covered soup tureen, lg. 13 1/2 in.; and a covered sauce tureen with attached undertray, lg. 8 in.; twelve plates with floral designs, dia. 8 1/2 in.; five graduated oval plates, one each with flowers, birds, sheep, dead game bird, and cow, lg. 11 1/2, 13 1/2, 15 3/4 , 18, and 20 in.; twelve oyster plates with ocean life motif, three each with pale ground colors of yellow, green, ivory, and buff, dia. 8 3/4 in.; on the reverse inscribed "General Myers" and printed factory marks. Compotes: good Ocean plates: two with 1/2" rim chips Fish platter: 1/2" chip to footrim Bird plates: one with a 1/4" chip; most with slight gilt rim wear.
