American Renaissance Revival Porcelain-mounted, Ebonized and Parcel-gilt Cabinet, likely New York, c. 1875-80, rectangular case with gilt incised architectural motifs throughout, the stepped top applied with panels of tulipwood and burl walnut, the lower part of top with openwork scrolls; lower case fitted with a French oval porcelain portrait plaque in the door; carved lunette above the door and burl walnut panels to the sides of the front and to each side; on a shaped plinth, ht. 46, wd. 55, dp. 20 in. Front foot and upper right corner molding off but present (may be glued on by exhibition time); top with light fading and minor pin denting with a little shrinkage; case very good to excellent overall with only minor age typical defects; gilding appears original.
