Seven Silver and Silverplate Matchsafes, late 19th/early 20th century, five silver: chased and embossed with tiger emerging from jungle vegetation, two with scrollwork borders, plain line engraved borders, and an English engraved example, Birmingham, 1900; and two silverplate: one with Japonesque floral engraving, the other formed as a jester seated in a great chair, lg. to 2 1/2 in., approx. 4 troy oz. plating mainly worn off both silverplate examples, the Aesthetic movement with some corrosion. scrollworks with dings to plain surface. english with small hole to front edge approx. 1/8". all with overall minor age wear.
