Sterling and Mixed Metal Aesthetic Movement Pitcher, c. 1880, cylindrical neck with short spout, ovoid body with ear handle, with all over hammered surface, naturalistically decorated as a pool with three cavorting copper carp, with two dragonflies hovering above, one with copper body and brass wings, the other with copper face, with irises accented with copper stems, with small circular inlays of brass and copper throughout, underside monogrammed and dated "Xmas 1880," ht. 7 1/4 in., approx. 27 troy oz. marked: Tiffany & Co. 3077 Makers 1929 sterling silver and other metals 785 PROVENANCE: The piece has been in the consignor's family since it was given to the consignor's grandmother, a member of the Young family of New York, as a Christmas present in 1880 (as dated to underside). The Youngs were friends with the Tiffany family. Approx. 1" round dent near base between the irises and one of the carp. Interior of base showing three pinpoints. Minor age wear. tarnish, or wear to the oxidized finish.
