Victorian Sterling Silver and Scottish Agate Matchbox, Birmingham, late 19th century, the central carved agate shield framed by various shaped agate and jasper tablets, on ball feet, 2 1/2 x 1 1/2 x 1 in. , hallmarks, maker's mark probably for Adie & Lovekin Ltd., (marks rubbed). Note: Pictured in Victorian Jewelry , p. 56. Letter date appears to be for 1891, but marks are rubbed. Some quite minor edge nicks to agate, unobtrusive. Tarnish.
