Cased Ambrotype of a Union Civil War Soldier with Musket and Two Photographs, c. 1864, including a quarter-plate ambrotype depicting a Union soldier Nathan Hill with his musket at his side, with two later photographs of Hill, one showing him wearing his Grand Army of the Republic membership medal, with the name of a Northfield, Vermont, photography studio printed on the bottom, and a photograph showing Hill and his wife in later years; accompanied by the musket held by Hill in the ambrotype, a British percussion musket, marked 1863 over "TOWER" forward of the hammer ramp, with blade front sight, three iron barrel bands, iron ramrod, two sling swivels, brass triggerguard, nosecap, and buttplate, English walnut fullstock with impressed Birmingham Small Arms Trade mark and inscribed with the names and dates of several Hill family members, overall lg. 55 in.
