Italian Gilt-gesso Bookstand, 19th century, raised on C-scroll base, the slanted surface carved with a coat of arms flanked by scrolls, birds, and drapery, with polychrome accenting, ht. 11 1/4, wd. 15, dp. 11 3/8 in. loss to part of a scroll to front base skirt. age typical chipping/flaking to gesso and paint, especially at book shelf, and cartouche to center of front skirt. possible paint touch-up to black finishes, and to center heraldic crest. some age typical shrinkage cracks.
