Framed American School Oil on Canvas Portrait of Gentleman Holding a Book, unsigned, a label on the reverse identifies the sitter as George Grinnell and the artist as Daniel Huntington. Painting not examined out of frame or under blacklight. It has one small patch, to the left above the sitter's left hand. Hands and face in good condition. Minor craquelure especially to the top of the canvas. Frame in very good condition - a few minor scuffs. Sight size: 28 3/8 x 35 3/8 in. Framed dimensions: 34 3/8 x 41 1/8 in.
