Silver Equinoctial Dial by Don Diego, Guadalax, Mexico, dated 1632, hinged components include an engraved hour ring with Roman numerals, pin gnomon, latitude scale calibrated 0-90, plumb bob and holder on an octagonal base with 2 3/4 in. dia. compass calibrated in four quadrants 0-90 and directions in Spanish, the reverse marked Por Don Diego de Guadalax en Mexico ano de 1632 and twenty-eight latitudes of the region, all in a felt-lined walnut box, dial wd. 3 in.
