Oak Longcase Clock by John Wyke, Prescott, the flat top case with blind fret, glazed door with engaged columns, tombstone-shaped waist door and base with bracket feet, 11 in. composite brass dial, silvered chapter ring with Roman numerals, quarter, half hour marks and signed J. Wike Prescut , cast brass "four season" spandrels, engraved center and recessed date aperture, thirty-hour time and strike full plate single-hand movement with recoil escapement, rear mounted count wheel strike, endless rope with single weight and pendulum, ht. 79 1/2 in. John Wyke (1720-1787) published possibly the first horological tool trade catalogue in the last quarter of the 18th century. Wyke and his tool catalogue are well documented in Ted Crom, Horological Shop Tools, 1700-1900 , pp. 138-161. Case and movement probably by association, base portion of backboard restored, feet replaced, repairs to engaged columns on hood door, dial resilvered.
