Mahogany Patent Timepiece or "Banjo" Clock, attributed to Curtis & Dunning, Concord, Massachusetts, c. 1820, painted iron dial with Roman numerals, moon hands, gilded rope molded frames enclosing reverse-painted glasses, the lower depicting Aurora on her chariot pulled by two winged horses, the throat with gilt leaves on a green background flanked by brass side ornaments, gilded pedestal and eight-day timepiece movement with lead weight and pendulum, ht. 40 in. Painted dial appears to be over a printed paper dial, both glasses are original, throat glass crack professionally repaired and now unnoticeable, recent blocks holding throat glass in frame, some gilding losses on side of box frame, lacking door pull, five piece chesnut backboard, period brass case components, pendulum and weight.
