French Marble Mystery Clock, c. 1880, gray verigated marble case with gilt spelter lion's heads and carrying handles, paw feet, brass bezel and applied Roman numerals on the glass dial, surrmounted by a gilt putto and standing goddess holding the clear beveled glass clock pendulum in her outstretched left arm, the eight-day time and strike spring-powered movement is regulated by the swinging pendulum with no visible source of power, with a 4 1/2 in. dia. brass dial with engine-turned center and Roman numerals, ht. 22 in. Right foot on goddess repaired, glass dial possibly a replacement of the original to allow viewer to watch escapement action, a brass dial accompanies the lot.
