Painted Cherry Tall Clock with Automaton, Pennsylvania, c. 1825, scroll top with turned wooden finials, spool-turned columns flanking the arched and glazed hood door, chamfered corners on the waist, rectangular door with applied chip-carved fan, the base with fan and spoon carving, chamfered corners and bracket feet, 12 1/2 in. painted wooden dial with Roman numerals and dual doors in the arch which open to present a bowing hand-painted cuckoo with moving beak and wings activated on the hour and sounded with bellows, eight-day time and strike wooden movement with count wheel strike, two weights and pendulum, ht. 95 in. missing strike arbor to activate the automaton, horizontal sectional poplar backboard ends at hood section, weights and pendulum are replacements; case retains original components and surface.
