Queen Anne Carved Armchair, New England, 18th century, with block, vase, and ring turnings, (height loss, rockers added), ht. 40, seat ht. 16 in. Provenance: According to family tradition, the chair was owned by Pearson and Lois Heywood of the original land grant of Braintree, Massachusetts, at their farm named "Penns Hill," which was visited by John Adams, who was said to have liked the chair and sat in it often.
