Two Needlework Samplers, America, second quarter 19th century, one worked in silk and wool threads on a linen ground, stitched "Catherine Caddin's Sampler September 8th 1841 Aged 10 Years," with bird, heart, tree, and flower motifs, 17 x 6 1/2, in a later oak frame; the other worked in silk threads on a linen ground, with rows of alphabets over "Fanny F. Thompsons sampler/made in the 14 Year of her age 1839," above a pious verse, 8 1/2 x 7 1/2 in., in a period red-painted frame, (both with toning and stitch losses).
