Gustave Mascart (French, 1834-1914) Promenade Along the Canal Signed "G. Mascart" l.r. Oil on canvas, 25 3/4 x 36 in. (65.4 x 91.4 cm), framed. Condition: Surface grime, craquelure, retouch, lined. The lining is probably adhered with glue or resin. Retouch is larger areas (some of lighter washes) in the sky and foreground as well as two large repaired tears in the lower right quadrant and additional small scattered areas, Yellowing to the varnish layer. This work would probably benefit from a gentle cleaning.
