Cyrus Edwin Dallin (American, 1861-1944) Massasoit, Chief of the Wampanogas , c. 1920 Signed "Dallin ©" and inscribed "Massasoit" within cast on base. Bronze with dark brown patina, 11 x 2 3/4 x 4 in. (27.9 x 7.0 x 10.2 cm). Condition: Minor surface dust/grime. N.B. This sculpture is after the large-scale version created in 1920 which was commissioned by the Improved Order of Red Men as a monument for the Plymouth Tercentenary. The surface grime is minor and includes pinpoint splatteres or similar soiling.
