Maude Drein Bryant (American, 1880-1946) Vermillion, Blue and Gold Signed and dated "Maude Drein 1915-" l. r., identified on period labels affixed to th reverse. Oil on canvas, 36 x 30 in. (91.4 x 76.2 cm), framed. Condition: Puncture l.r. quadrant, mild surface grime. Exhibitions: This may be the work exhibited at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, Annual Exhibition, 1916, under the title Vermillion, Rose and Blue (no. 269). Tear with surrounding losses in the lower right quadrant (shaped like a "T" rotated 90 degrees clockwise). It measures 1 1/2 inches in height by 1 inch in length. The work would benefit from a gentle cleaning.
