After Pier Francesco Fiorentino (Italian, 1444-1497) The Mystic Marriage of Saint Catherine Label and wax seals on the reverse. Tempera with oil, gold, and tooling on panel, lunette form, 20 x 13 1/2 in. (50.9 x 34.2 cm), with an applied molding. Condition: Losses to surface and molding (primarily near lower edge), retouch, bloom, cracks and insect damage to panel, craquelure. Losses to applied molding across the bottom edge as well as u.c. and along the right side. Additional losses within the composition, some to areas surrounding vertical splits to support, with the largest areas of loss across the bottom edge and u.c. Retouch is scattered small areas throughout. Additionally two larger areas of retouch surrounding the vertical split that runs through the figure of Saint Catherine(with one area of retouch above the figure and the other area of retouch includes the chin, shoulders and chest of the figure). Craquelure appears stable. Bloom and surface grime so that the work would benefit from a cleaning. Insect damage predominately visible on the reverse.
