Pair of Chinese Framed Paintings, in the style of Wen Tingrui, probably Republican period, ink, color, and gilt on heavy paper, one panel depicting a battle scene from "Sui Tang Yan Yi" (Dramatized History of Sui and Tang), the other from "Water Margin," dated gengzi year (1720), framed, 37 x 70 1/2 in. N.B. Wen Tingrui was a central figure in the anti-Qing provincial military group in the Jiangxi region. He was arrested in 1734 under the Yongzheng reign. The pair of paintings depicting famous outlaws' rebellions in the Chinese history insinuate Wen's stance against the Qing dynasty.
