Calligraphy, Wang Jiqian (C. C. Wang) (1907-2003), cursive script on ink-washed paper, after Zhou Bangyan's (1056-1121) poem " Huan Xi Sha--Lou Shang Qing Tian Bi Si Chui ", two seals, unmounted, 27 x 26 1/2 in. N.B. Text can be roughly translated as, "From upstairs I see the blue sky as a canopy hanging down from all directions, in front of the house fragrant grass extends away until it reaches the distant horizon, I advise you not to climb to the highest level for the view; the tiny bamboo shoots have already grown into tall and slender bamboo, blossoms have fallen on the earth and blended into the swallow's nests, how can I bear listening to the melancholy sound of the cuckoos?" Fairly good condition.
