Chinese Export Gilt-lacquer Chest on Stand, 19th century, rectangular with front doors opening to reveal shelving space and drawers, designed on the raised panels to the front with figures amongst pagodas and landscape, reserved on flower-and-bird ground, further encircled by dragon borders, the sides decorated with similar landscape themes, all in gilt against black lacquered ground, set on a stand with shaped apron and cabriole legs with feet in the shape of lion's paws clasping a ball, brass handles to each side (one missing), lg. 38 3/4, dp. 21 3/4, ht. 52 in. (76 in. with stand). Cracks and craquelures to each side, one leg of the stand broken, flaking to the edges and corners, brass handle on one side missing, gilt painting preserved well in general
