Pair of Paris Porcelain Empire-style Lamp Bases, third quarter 19th century, the gold-ground vasiform bodies enamel decorated to one side with a portrait roundel of a lady, one wearing turban and green dress, the other in regal attire, with winged herm handles, on trumpet foot and square base, mounted on further gilt-metal square base, electrified, porcelain ht. 15 1/4, ht. to top of porcelain including metal base 16 3/8 in. all four herm handles from head to bust painted with gold paint. one lamp with one herm with repair to wing. the other lamp with one with several repairs (through head, at wings). both with rubbing to gold at extremities and trumpet foot, and with near complete loss to Empire-style decoration at back, and at border of painted portraits (was likely gold on gold, worn from cleaning).
