Arabic Christian Icon of St. Nicholas and Scenes from his Life, likely Melkite, 18th century, with the saint at center, surrounded by eleven scenes of his life, identified in Arabic, 20 1/4 x 18 in. significant flaking, losses, and restoration: Painting with old lifting, causing areas of loss down to the board, especially to corners, border around central Nicholas, and an upper vignette. Some spots of restoration at various stages, including spots of tinted fill, and some in-painting. the back showing stabilized central vertical crack. Varnished surface.
