Italian Bone-inlaid Walnut Cassone, 18th century, rectangular top inlaid with stringing, scrolling foliage and diamond-shaped motifs, paneled rectangular case with turned stiles and plain interior, on paw feet, ht. 28 1/2, wd. 64 1/2, dp. 28 in. Top with long side to side shrinkage crack with gapping; very minor loss to inlay and minor shrinkage to ends of tops, some water damage and uneven color; both sides and front with cracks; back legs replaced and front feet with dry rot and moderate chewing; age typical additional minor defects and imperfections.
