Italian Baroque Fruitwood Mantel Clock Attributed to Abraham Chavane, first half 18th century, signed on the back plate of the movement and inscribed Roma, with gilt-bronze lifting handle and stepped bonnet-top above three gilt bronze openwork foliate panels and square dial with steel chapter ring and stippled brass ground with seraphs in the spandrels, single-train movement chiming on two bells and with pull repeater, with stepped base and paneled moldings, ht. 17 1/2, wd. 11, dp. 6 3/4 in. Lacking pendulum bob; left side of base re-glued; some minor worming to left side of cornice; feet replaced; case and works appear made together; age typcial additional minor defects.
