Chinese, Qing Dynasty Qianlong Period Mark (1735-1796), likely 20th century. A famille rose porcelain lidded hexagonal temple jar with opposing yellow ground figural cartouches to bulbous shouldered body, one depicting courtly males in an interior being waited on by female servants, the other with courtly women in a landscape, the cartouches to a lavender ground filled with clusters of peony flowers and wisteria with butterflies and other smaller shaped floral medallions, the shoulder with a wide yellow band filled with chrysanthemum blossoms in a field of scrolling vines, the conforming flaring foot with alternating cartouches of diaper patterning and precious objects, the conforming lid with flying foo dogs and floral bud form finial. Marked to underside with hand painted rust overglaze Qianlong imperial reign mark. Overall approximately 17" tall, 10" diameter.
