Japanese School, 19th century, possibly earlier. "Warriors", ink and pigment on silk, inscribed lower right in black calligraphy above single red seal mark. Scroll painting depicting a mass of brightly hued samurai or soldiers at lower right on the bank of a river, several of them wading through the water on horseback toward a village on the other bank with many empty boats resting on shore. Painting to a blue floral silk surround and on a wooden roller. Overall approximately 73.5" x 24.5".
