Massive American scrimshaw whale's tooth, 19th c. , with elaborate decoration of an American whaling ship on one side, the reverse with a portrait of a woman, 8 1/4" l. Accompanying this lot is an old typed history of this tooth which identifies it as having been removed from a whale captured by Capt. Edward's whaling ship.
