$5,175
Pair of Philadelphia Chippendale mahogany dining chairs, ca. 1780 , with foliate carved crest rail and pierced splat, above a slip seat, supported by straight square legs with molded corners joined by stretchers. This pair is possibly from the same set as the example illustrated in The Philadelphia Blue Book by Horner, plate 342, where it is noted that the carving can be attributed to the shop of John Gillinghan.
