decorated in lacquer with mother-of-pearl inlay and depicting the eighteen luohan at various pursuits, each shown bearing his traditional attribute, within borders having reserves of four-clawed dragons writhing amidst scrolled clouds and reserves of seasonal floral motifs, the reverse depicting a rockery scene with blossoming peonies, roses and wisteria within borders of landscape reserves. Height of each panel 76 1/2 x width 19 inches.
