Chinese. Early 20th century. Pair of painted black wood floor torcheres with hand carved decoration on tripartate base of baby elephants standing on back feet with front feet resting on center column, each of them having ivory or bone tusks and an upwardly directed trunk. Shaft decorated in spiral pattern with dragons and lotus blossoms, with carved borders of foliate pattern. Apparently unmarked. Approximately 61.75" tall x 19" wide at base._x000D_
