Chinese, 19th century, likely earlier. Ming Dynasty style figural scroll painting on silk depicting a seated Guanyin on pink lotus flower form base. Buddhist goddess of mercy and compassion portrayed under pink cloud scroll at top with white lotus flower, deity figure's head within flamed circular halo. Guanyin with androgynous body typical of earlier works. Figure with calm and serene facial expression, blue short hair, elongated earlobes, wearing red and blue long robes, hands in gestural mudra and legs in lotus position. Lotus base above stacked paneled bases decorated with dangling ornament. Black calligraphic marks in upper right corner. Framed approximately 67.75" x 29.25". Unframed approximately 64.5" x 27" (at widest). Provenance: From the Estate of Dr. T. Elder Pearce in Ellijay, Georgia.
