French, 19th century. Regence style walnut fauteuil with arched padded rectangular back joined to the serpentine seat by downswept foliate carved scrolling arms, raised above a shell-carved, diaper and foliate apron on cabriole legs carved at the knee with foliage and joined by a shaped X-form stretcher and ending in scrolled toes. Height 43", width 28" (arm to arm), seat depth 20.5", seat height 17".
