Idar-Oberstein, Germany, inspired by the works of Fabergé combined with a good sense of humor, this whimsical work, designed and executed by Manfred Wild, combines numerous fine materials and complex operations seamlessly into an exceptional objet d'art, incorporating a delicate white guilloche enamel egg centrally banded and capped with fluted 18 karat yellow gold accents which are bezel set with fine cabochon cut sapphires weighing approximately 2. 61 carats total, the egg opens to reveal a base of sparkling drusy quartz and holds a removable stick pin, continuing the motif the stick pin incorporates a rough diamond crystal weighing approximately 16.75 carats within a sculpted gold surround in a baby penguin design set with a round brilliant cut diamond eye, the egg supported by a trio of lifelike oxidized silver adult penguins standing on a base of rock crystal which is banded at the top and bottom with fluted yellow gold accents.
