Manner of Sevres (French, founded 1738). A large and impressive porcelain bust depicting Napoleon Bonaparte (French, 1769-1821), military leader and Emperor of the French Empire, in military dress with grey coat over green, red, and white uniform with traditional bicorne hat, the bust surmounting an attached square porcelain pedestal with scrolled corners and planes with alternating decoration in relief of "N" under the French royal crown and a Roman Centurion helmet. Marked to underside of base with spurious Double Louis "L" mark surrounding "A" and above "C". Approximate height 24", width 17.25", depth 11". Provenance: Property from the Ann Stone Trust, Shaker Heights, Ohio sold by Leslie Hindman Auctioneers, Chicago, Illinois, February 10, 2014, lot 34, whereby acquired by a private collector in Atlanta, Georgia.
