Chinese, 20th century. An intricately decorated Zitan wood box with decoration in relief to sliding lid depicting two 5-clawed dragons vertically oriented through and around a field of many cloud scrolls above a bank of stylized waves and set within a border of meandering key, at center a vertical rectangle of light hardwood with five calligraphic marks in relief, the box body with bands of ruyi scrolls at top and bottom and a shaped double band at center. Marked to underside of box with a line of four incised calligraphic marks. Overall approximate height 3.625", width 7", depth 11".
