Movado Giant Ermeto - Pullman Movado, retailed by Udall & Ballou. Made circa 1940. Fine and rare, large rectangular, 8 day-going stainless steel and snakeskin "Ermeto" desk clock. Rectangular, with applied snakeskin. Silver with luminous Arabic numerals subsidiary dial for constant seconds. Luminous steel hands. Rhodium-plated, fausses cotes decoration, 15 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, bimetallic compensation balance, Breguet balance spring. Dial, case and movement signed. Case numbered. Dim. 153 x 72 mm. (opened) Notes The Ermeto, originally designed as a travel watch to be placed either in a gentleman’s waistcoat or a lady’s handbag, was available in multiple finishes (gold, leather, enamel) and multiple sizes. The Pullman referred to the largest of all models to be used as a desk clock.
