Patek Philippe et Cie , Genève, case No. 4549. Made for E. Meyrat a Rio de Janeiro, c. 1850 . Fine, rare and early, 18K gold hunting case keyless watch. Four body, demi-bassine, entirely engraved with scrolled feathers, a champleve enamelled escutcheon on the cover, a greyhound on the back. Hinged gold cuvette ,engine turned band. Matte silver dial with Roman numerals. Gold "spade" hands. Gilt brass 12.5" movement, 8 jewels, with the earliest patented Patek Philippe keyless winding device, cylinder escapement with a plain three armed gilt brass balance, wolf’s tooth winding. Signed on the dial and the cuvette. Diam. 35 mm.
