Byzantine style Patek, Philippe & Cie. , Genève, movement No.104573, case no. 215681, made for Shreve, Crump and Low, Boston. Made in 1895, sold on October 7, 1898. Very fine and rare, Byzantine style, enamel and amethyst 18K gold keyless pendant watch with matching gold and amethyst brooch. Accompanied by the Extract from the Archives. Four-body, "bassine", covered with translucent green enamel amongst a high relief gold and amethyst floral pattern, en suite bezel decoration, band set with diamonds and white enamel rectangularar pattern. White enamel, black Breguet numerals, outer minute track center with painted gold floral motif. Gold Louis XV hands. Notes Brooch watches are among the finest decorative work of Patek Philippe's excellent craftsmen. They are often highly decorated, with various decorative techniques such as guilloche enamel, gold work, and semi-precious stones. The pendant and the watch have often been separated, making complete sets extremely rare. More often found in the Art Nouveau or Art Deco style, the Byzantine style is almost never seen.
