BREITLING REF. 7650 CO-PILOT STAINLESS STEEL Breitling Genève, case No. 1278930, Ref. 7650. Made circa 1969. Fine, water-resistant, stainless steel wristwatch with round button chronograph, registers and revolving bezel and a later Breitling stainless steel deployant clasp. Three-body, polished and brushed, screwed-down case back, bidirectional revolving matte black bezel, lapidated lugs. Bicolor black and silver with luminous baton indexes and Arabic numerals, subsidiary sunk guilloche dials for the seconds, the 15-minute and the 12-hour registers. Luminous white baton hands. Cal. 178, copper-colored, 17 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, monometallic balance, shock absorber, self compensating flat balance spring. Notes Dial, case and movement signed. DIAM. 42 mm. THICKNESS 14 mm. Probably one of the most iconic sport chronographs from Breitling (apart from the Navitimer of course), the Co-Pilot model became an instant classic when Raquel Welsh wore this model in the movie Fathom (1967). As a spy trying to infiltrate enemy lines to save the world from a nuclear disaster, she wore the large Co-Pilot during her sky dive. Featuring a larger 15-minute chronograph counter to increase readability and a perfectly adapted 42 mm.case, this example has remained in excellent overall original collection and would perfectly fit in in any sport watch collection.
