Fine and very rare, heavy 18K yellow gold tonneau-shaped, center- seconds, water-resistant, diamond-set wristwatch set with a total of 333 diamonds, instantaneous date and an integral 18K yellow gold and diamond-set IWC link bracelet by Gay Freres with deployant clasp. Accompanied by an IWC box. Three-body, solid, polished and brushed, wide flat diamond-set bezel with 35 diamonds, the shoulders set with a further 12 diamonds, screw-down case back and crown, antimagnetic dust cap, sapphire crystal. Matte gold with applied luminous yellow gold baton indexes, outer minute/seconds divisions, aperture for the date. Luminous yellow gold baton hands. Cal. C. 8541 B, rhodium-plated and oeil-de-perdrix decoration, 28 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, monometallic balance adjusted to five positions, shock absorber, self-compensating flat balance-spring, micrometer regulator. Notes Dial, case and movement signed. DIAM. 40 mm. THICKNESS 12 mm. Approx overall length 195 mm.plus 2 links. The IWC Ingenieur SL Automatic was produced in less than 600 examples between 1976-1984. Examples entirely cased in 18K yellow gold, such as the present lot, were only produced for two years, making them amongst the most sought after watches from the Ingenieur family.
