The Society focuses its resources on the development of six major programs: research, patient aid, public and professional education, advocacy, and community service. Since its establishment, the Leukemia Society has invested more than $145 million in research grants to physicians and scientists who are affiliated at accredited institutions in the United States and throughout the world. It is important to note that many of the modern lifesaving methods of treating other forms of cancers were pioneered directly as a result of leukemia research.
