Bovet, Fleurier, No. 766, Swiss, made for the Chinese Market, circa 1840. Fine 18K gold and enamel, pearl-set centre-seconds watch with special escapement. Double body with fixed bezel, the enamel back panel painted with a fine composition of Summer flowers over a powder blue ground, bezels pendant and bow with split-pearl inlaid champleve enamelled decoration. Hinged gold glazed cuvette with engineturned border. White enamel with Roman numerals and outer minutes and seconds ring. Gold "spade" hands. Gilt brass, Chinese calibre fully engraved with a foliage decoration, free standing barrel, single wheel duplex escapement with steel escape wheel and three-arm balance with wedge shaped and partly blued-steel weights, flat balance spring and regulator. Signed on the movement. Diam. 58 mm.
