Attributable to the Funk workshop in Bern, Swiss, circa 1760. Very rare and unusual both nocturnal and diurnal clock. Mounted a stem on an ebonised pear wood octagonal moulded base, the movement is fitted in an iron cage supporting the oil lamp. Brass nocturnal chapter ring with skeletonised Roman numerals, revolving against the oval iron dial plate below the pointer pierced on the outer diurnal Roman chapter ring fixed on the dial plate as well. Iron pointer fixed on chapter "XII" of the nocturnal ring. Rectangular with iron plates and brass turned pillars, going barrel, verge escapement, short pendulum with silk suspension. Dim. 50 x 27 cm. Notes As opposed to most of the clocks of this type, known to he typical of 18th century production of Bern and mostly made in the workshop of Funk, this nocturnal clock is also fitted with a regular diurnal chapter ring.
