Breguet & Fits a Paris, No. 13684, Swiss, made for the Islamic Market, circa 1830. Very fine 18K gold and enamel hunting cased, quarter repeating diamond-set watch with alarm, in a latter mahogany fitted box. Three body, Empire, the red flinque enamelled band with azure champleve enamel decoration, cover and back with champleve floral decoration over a pink ground, the cover centred with a painted vase of flowers within a white champleve enamel and red flinque frame with scalloped edge, the back centred with a view of the Bosphorus and Hagia Sophia in the foreground. Inner gold fixed dome chased with varicoloured floral decoration against a matted ground and enhanced by a diamond-set bunch of flowers. Hinged gold inner bezel and gilt-brass dustcap. White enamel with Turkish numerals. Gold Breguet hands. Hinged gilt-brass full plate with cylindrical pillars, going barrel, cylinder escapement, plain steel three-arm balance, flat balance spring with regulator, small English style gilt-brass cock with diamond end-stone. Alarm train with fixed barrel and revolving arbor, striking and repeating on a bell by depressing the pendant. Signed on the dial and dust-cap. Diam. 60 mm.
