Louis Ellionedy a Vienne, circa 1840. Fine silver and enamel oval watch made in the 17th century style. Oval, the bezel with champleve enamelled decoration set with a rock crystal glass, the enamel back of the "bassine" oval case, painted with a scene featuring a maiden seating by a military camp, black enamelled band with gilt painted foliage decoration. The inside of the case painted with a ruin. Oval silver with Roman numerals and champleve enamelled decoration. Gilt-brass hands. Small circular gilt-brass full plate with conical pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, plain brass three-arm balance, flat balance spring and three-quarter giltbrass continental cock. Signed on the back plate. Dim. 46 mm. Notes Rom 1830 to 1870 in Vienna, the Renaissance revival was much favour and several gold or silver and enamel watches, table clocks objects of virtue in the 16th and 17th century style were produced to match the furniture in fashion at that period.
