Very fine and rare 18K gold diamond-set pair-cased, quarter striking clock watch with double face matching chatelaine, in a later fitted box. Outer double body, the diamond-set bezel chased with a wreath of flowers, the back chased with diamond-set musical trophies trophies against a matted ground, the border decoration matching that of the bezel. Inner double body, "bassine", the back pierced and engraved with flowers and foliage. Gold matching chatelaine chased with a diamond-set croissant, a star, a bow and a quiver on one side, chased with flowers and foliage on the reverse. White enamel with Turkish numerals. Diamond-set hands. Gilt-brass full plate double train, with turned pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, plain brass three-arm balance, gilt-brass cock pierced and engraved with scrolling foliage. Striking train with fixed gilt-brass barrels and revolving arbor. Striking on a bell with strike-silent selection lever on the bezel. Gilt-brass dust-cap. Signed on the dial, dust-cap and back plate. Diam. 64 mm. Notes This watch is not only remarkable by its size and the quality of the rose-cut diamonds but also by its extremely fine matching chatelaine. Watches by Daniel de Saint Leu, still retaining their original matching chatelaine are very rare.
